Raymond Victor Mee was a painter, ceramicist and printmaker who spent his artistic career working between England and Italy.  Born in Leek (England), he trained at Staffordshire University and Brighton University.  Subsequently he pursued his career as an artist, exhibiting in both England and Italy.  He became greatly influenced by Italian architecture and the local landscape after his first trip to Italy in 1989 and from 1990 he began working from his studio in Benabbio (Bagni di Lucca).

The two exhibitions entitled Raymond Victor Mee: La Dolce Vita - One Man's Passion for the Magic of Tuscany marked the tenth anniversary in his memory and celebrated the tremendous influence that Italian architecture and the Tuscan landscape had on his life and work.  The exhibition also included several works by the artist’s daughter Julia Alexandra Mee.
