Scottish National Gallery - Artists At Work - Collective Exhibition 2018 - Julia Alexandra Mee - Selection of Fresco Pigments and Materials

JULIA ALEXANDRA MEE is an artist and art historian specialising in the technique of buon fresco, working between her studio in Edinburgh, Scotland and her home in the Tuscan hills in Italy.  Her figurative painting explores the character and mood of the sitters, drawing on traditional techniques which are developed and applied to contemporary culture.  Born in England in 1975, she trained under her father, the painter and ceramicist Raymond Victor Mee, before completing her training at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze where she graduated with a first with distinction (110 e lode). She is now a practising fresco painter and art historian, exhibiting regularly in Great Britain and Italy, and giving talks, workshops and demonstrations on the technique of buon fresco and other pictorial techniques.
